Saturday

In the a.m. I had my highlights done.

Andrew and I caught a matinee showing of Harry Potter at Potomac Yard in the afternoon.

And much later, Hemana and I went to Dream, a night club in the District.

Re: I Failed to Mention (Until This Moment)

Remember my mentioning this?

"...some @$$hole that lives in our building stole our shiny new grill!!! And we only got to use it two times!!"

Well...
we posted signs downstairs to let whoever took the grill know that we wanted it back and after a little over a week of checking for it, late on Memorial Day, someone returned it to an empty storage locker in the basement. I only noticed it when I went to retrieve the cooking implements we got w/it (both the grill and the utensils were free after spending $40 for something like six weeks at Harris Teeter and saving the receipts) from our own locker. OK and this was AFTER Andrew and I bought different one that very day (from IKEA) and had already fired it up. So there is no absolutely way that we can return the new one. Oh well, I guess we have a spare now in case this ever happens to us again. *sigh*

Summer To Do List

  • Complete my reading list.
  • Visit my aunt Lil in Chicago. We're hoping that my uncle Randy (who lives in Massachusetts where I was born) will fly out too.
  • Take Rand and Darwin to see the vet.
  • Work on Chemical Butterfly. This will likely involve starting over again.
  • Ride the elevator (no one is allowed to climb the stairs anymore - from what I understand they caused too many people to have heart attacks) to the top of the Washington Monument.
  • Visit the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens. I read on their official website that July 17th is when the annual Waterlily Festival will take place. I love waterlilys...I wanna go!!
  • Visit the Baltimore Aquarium. I've only been to the National Aquarium and that was pretty pathetic...
  • Track down all the bears in D.C. and capture them on film.
  • Practice my Spanish. I took a much needed break from studying it and now it is time to start getting myself prepared for the next installment.
  • Make the transition over to the Mac (Andrew wanted me to add this to the list.) I haven't played w/it at all. I kept saying I would when summer break began, but Andrew beat me to it. (Did not! I just wasn't "afraid" of it like Crystal was... - Andrew)
  • Play some of our video games. This is something I love to do, but never can find the time for during the semester.

I'm sure I will be adding to this list as more things come to me.

Re: Internship @ Georgetown

While Andrew is running some errands I am going to try to squeeze in a few entries that I have been meaning to write, but I have been too tired to bother. Work is going very well. My boss, Donna or DJ (she answers to both), is way cool. On my first day of work (Tuesday) it was just the two of us in the office as Hemana could make it in. With minimal instruction I started to learn the filing system. I found out when I came home that NSCS filled the Communications position (via e-mail) so my dilemma was over nothing. My second day involved even more filing. So did the third, lol. I finally got the backlog all caught up today and so I got to play around with the shredder (which I now affectionately call "Herby" don't ask how I came up w/that name.) I like this job and I know come the end of the summer I will be very sorry to leave it :(.

I learned today that there is a linguist working in the Neuroscience department - I'm looking forward to meeting him soon. Maybe I ended up at Georgetown and not w/NSCS for a greater reason. I'll just leave it at that. I wouldn't want to jinx anything.
